Ground Clearance and Dimensions of the Gen-Y Hitch Phantom

Question:

Are you kidding us? If your receiver pin is, for example, 12inch off the ground does the hitch even swing to the stowed position? And if it does what is the ground clearance at the bottom of the mount when stowed?

No ones kidding you, these are popular with taller truck owners that have lift kits or larger tires. The Gen-Y Hitch Phantom item # GY98XR will sit pretty close to the ground if you have a hitch that only has 12" of clearance. The bottom of the ball mount sits 10-1/4" below the pin hole when it is in the stowed position. You will need 12-1/2" of clearance to rotate the ball mount with the hitch ball installed.

I have attached a dimensional diagram below so you can see if this will work for your set up. I have also linked a review video so you can see the functions of this product.

A more reasonable option that only requires 11" of ground clearance is the B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount item # BWTS10037B. This also fits a 2" hitch receiver and has both a 2" and 2-5/16" hitch ball.
