Pin Will Not Insert Fully Into Dexter DX7.5 Drop-N-Go Brake Actuator
Question:
Hello, I have a Dexter DX7.5 Disc brake actuator. It has the -N-Go coupler. The safety pin will not go through to the other side. Something is blocking this and it definitely sounds like metal. Its about half way through. Its like something hasnt released or is stuck. Ive sprayed some lube in it and still no success. Do you know if this is serviceable? I dont want to have to replace the whole actuator for just the coupler. Any suggestions? Thank you

The Dexter DX7.5 Drop-N-Go Brake Actuator part # 099-175-20 is designed for use only with a 2" hitch ball and the latch must be seated fully for the safety pin to be inserted. Therefore, I recommend making sure you have the correct ball size and that the latching mechanism is fully engaged. Per the instructions, "If the pin will not fit into the front lower hole, the coupler is not attached properly.". Please note, there are actually two spots to place the pin as well so be sure you are not trying to insert it into the pin hole on the outer sleeve which is for the reverse lockout.
I have attached for you below a parts breakdown of the coupler if you still cannot get the pin to seat properly. I recommend first removing the front cover and inspecting inside and then proceed to remove the latch assembly/coupler for further inspection/repairs.
