Recommended Flat Towing Set Up for a 2023 Ford F-150 XLT FX4

Question:

I have a 2023 Ford F-150 XLT FX4x4. Besides the stay and play what other parts are needed? I have a blue ox tow bar and cable on back of my Rv. Someone said I might need a battery charge system to avoid draining the truck batteries any advice would be appreciate. What to be sure to purchase all that is required including what wire harness is needed to work the brake lights

Along with the supplemental braking system you will also need a base plate kit, wiring harness, and a charge line to keep your battery from dying.

Since you have a Blue Ox tow bar you will want the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit item # BLU33FR. This kit has removable tabs that will keep your truck looking as close to factory as possible when you are not towing it.

We have two different options for wiring harnesses depending on whether or not your F-150 has LED or incandescent lighting. For LED lights you will need the Roadmaster Smart Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Wiring Kit for Variable Voltage LED Tail Lights item # RM38FR. If your truck doesn't have LED's you will want item # RM26FR.

The Roadmaster Charge Line Kit item # RM-156-25 will keep your battery from being drained by your F-150 and the braking system while being flat towed.

The Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System w/ Wireless Coachlink Monitor item # DM86VR you referenced is one of our most popular braking systems and is highly recommended. It is compatible with your 2023 Ford.
