Can Hub/Drum of Trailer Axle be Replaced with Idler Hub
Question:
If the original hub on a trailer axle had the brake assembly, but the brakes never worked, is there any reason not to go with an idler hub when replacing the axle and everything? Assuming I don’t necessarily need brakes on it

If you have no need for brakes on your trailer there's no reason you couldn't just go to an idler hub in place of the hub drums you have now. They will fit just as well as what you have now. If you currently have a 2,000 lb axle and your wheel bolt pattern is 4 on 4 inch then the pre-greased idler hub part # AKIHUB-440-2-1K would fit and work great.
If you have a different axle capacity/wheel bolt pattern let me know and I'll see what you'd need.
