Can The Tekonsha P2 Trailer Brake Controller Be Mouned on Top of Dash Rather Than Down Low?

2017 pathfinder LT w/ tow package. Can the unit be mounted on the top of the dash? Sort of like cell phone brackets? Do they make longer connection wires? Can you remove the unit if not being used over the winter months without damage to unit?

Yes, the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885 can be mounted on top of the dash on your 2017 Nissan Pathfinder LT, with the factory tow package. This is quite common on several vehicles which actually place the factory connector behind a panel in the dash rather than behind the drivers area of the dash. Running the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3050-P would be rather difficult. Instead you could use either the 34" Pigtail # 7894 or 60" Pigtail # 20160 and then attach it to the Wiring Adapter # 3050-S to plug into the factory connector. Having the free end wires will make it much easier to route down your dash either through a small hole or around the dash panel down to the drivers area behind the dash.

The controller includes a Mounting Pocket # 7686 allowing for easier removal and installation when your are not needing the controller.
