Recommended In Bed 7-Way for a 2012 Ford F-250

Question:

I currently have a 6 pin round vehicle side mounted in the bed of my truck. I would like to replace the 6 pin with a 7 pin blade. I have a 7 pin blade below my bumper, but I would also like to have one in the bed when hauling my gooseneck. After research, I came to the conclusion the 6 pin does not have the reverse light. I plan to pull the current 6 pin and check functions of each wire. After this, how can I replace the 6 pin with the 7 pin and have reverse light functions?

It would be a lot easier to just pull the 6-Pin out completely with all of it's wiring and replace it with the Pollak 5th Wheel / Gooseneck T-Connector item # PK11893-11932. This harness plugs directly into your factory wiring, adds a 7-way connector to the bed of your F-250, and allows you to keep the one on your bumper.

If you don't like this suggestion then you will need the Pollak Replacement 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Connector Socket item # PK11893, a few feet of 12 gauge Jacketed 2 Wire item # 12-2-1, and a Circuit Tester like item # PTW2992. You will want to use the circuit tester to check the functions of the wires on your current 6-way connector and match them up in the appropriate position on the 7-way. You will then need to tap into your wiring harness that goes to your bumper and find the reverse light circuit.

I have included an installation video below for the Pollak 5th Wheel / Gooseneck T-Connector item # PK11893-11932.
