Will The Tekonsha 3020-P Brake Controller Wiring Harness Work On A 2017 Ram 1500
Question:
I have a 2017 Ram 1500 V6. Install video on same year/model Ram for Tekonsha P2 brake controller references a 3024-P plug-in adapter. I cannot find this part # on your site but there is a 3020-P. Will it work?

Expert Reply:
The # 3024-P is the correct wire harness for your 2017 Ram 1500, the 3020-P is for select models from 1995 - 2009 so it would not work for you. The parent company for Tekonsha was recently bought out (2023) and is going through some transitional growing pains and that has caused a massive amount of their wiring harness to run out of stock so that's why you haven't been able to find it. We're still working with the new ownership to get these items back in stock but don't have a set timetable yet.
The only option you would have to wire in the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885 would be the universal splice-in wiring harness that comes with it.
If you haven't already purchased the # 90885 then I highly recommend switching over to the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR, which also has a plug-in wiring harness # 331-TPH-020 to make the installation easy peasy. This brake controller has one of the smallest control knobs on the market and can install in the dash for a factory look instead of having a bulky under the dash style controller. I have it in my Silverado and it's absolutely one of the easiest installs I've ever done and is so much easier to use.
I've attached a short video below where Brad will walk you through the installation if you're interested.
