How to Determine Correct Hubs For Trailer
Question:
I have a trailer with 5x5 hubs marked 8-249 . I have 5 new wheels /tires but they’re 5x4 1/2. My buddy has 4 hubs/bearings 5 x 4-1/2 marked 8-247, will those hubs fit my trailer?

There are different versions of those, so it's impossible to give you an answer. There is just a single way to determine the hubs that fit your trailer, as you will need to take apart your current hub assembly and look at the bearings themselves; wipe away the grease and you should be able to see the part number stamped directly on them.
If you are unable to find them, you need to use a digital caliper measure your spindle to the thousandths of an inch where the bearings ride; you will also need to know your axle capacity (which should be stamped on the axle itself).
For example, if you have a 3,500 lb axle and your inner bearing is L68149 (1.378" inner diameter), and your outer bearing was L44649 (1.063" inner diameter) you would use the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 3,500-lb Axles # 84546UC3.
I have added a link below to our entire selection of hubs for you once you find this info, or if you get back to me with your bearing numbers or measurements I can try and find the right one for you.
