Can Grease Seal 168233 Replace Thicker Seal

I have a 1995 Ranger boat trailer. I got new bearing and seals for it but the seals are 1/4” vs the originals 1/2” think. The ID and OD are correct though 168233. My question is : will the 1/4” thick seal work or should I try to locate the correct thickness? Thanks!

So long as the 1.688" inner diameter and 2.332" outer diameter are the same, you can replace your thicker grease seal with the Grease Seal # 168233.

Based on the dimensions you listed we have the part #010-180-00 which would fit and work well. This has an outer diameter of 2.33 inch and an inner diameter of 1.68 inch like you need so it would work well.
