The only difference between the Patriot Hitches Adjustable Drop Hitch Receiver Adapter part # PH67SR (Black Ops) and part # PH54FR (Red Ops) is the color. The former has black accents and the latter has red accents. The specs and everything else is the same.

There is not a maximum capacity for the Adjustable Drop Hitch Receiver Adapter #PH54FR. It has a 7,000 lb towing capacity and 700 lb tongue weight capacity no matter what. We have verified this with Patriot Hitches.

I wouldn't say one type of ball mount has more or a reputation of failing than the other. The welded on triple ball mount part #BWBMTT31004 that you referenced is very well made and would not have any issues with reliability.

What you need is a taller weight distribution shank so that you can move the head of the system up higher and get the additional height needed. For that the Curt part #C17123 which would give you additional height.
