I have a 2017 armada sv I bought a universal harness everything works but the trailer breaks I don’t know what it could be

Did you install a brake controller as well when you installed the 7-way? If you just installed a 7-way you'd also need to install a brake controller as there isn't circuit in standard trailer wiring that will actuate the brakes without one. Trailer brakes are designed to apply using varying voltages to allow for different brake intensities. On standard trailer wiring this isn't possible since everything there would be either 12 volts or 0 volts. So with a brake controller like the Redarc Tow Pro Liberty # RED24FR it uses an inertia sensor to sense how hard you are applying the vehicle brakes and then applies a proportional amount of voltage to the trailer brakes.
