Will The Air Lift SlamAir Helper Springs Fit a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4-Wheel Drive?
Question:
I am looking at the slam air 59209 by Air Lift. Their website states it’s for 2WD only. Can you explain why the rear axle on a 2004 2WD Silverado 1500 would be different then the rear axle on a 2004 4WD Silverado 1500? From what I can see it should install the same exact way. I see one of your experts recommended this kit to someone asking about it on their 2017 4wd. Does that mean I’ll be good? I plan on welding and not bolting so minor fabrication to make it work is fine with me.

I reached out to Air Lift and they explained they only have the Air Lift SlamAir Air Helper Springs # AL59209 listed to fit the 2wd versions of your 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 as that is all they have tested to fit. As most all lowered vehicles are 2wd they have not confirmed fitment on 4-wheel drive. This kit is very similar in design and mounting to the Air Lift Ride Control # AL59501 which fits both 2wd and 4wd.
I was also able to get some information on the dimensions for the Air Lift SlamAir Air Helper Springs # AL59209. The air springs are designed for a height of 4-6" between the mounting plates. The spring has a maximum extended height of 7" and the most it can compress is 2.4" With this information you will be able to ensure the air springs are safe to use with your lowering kit.
