Recommended Parts for Towing Rental Trailers with a 2018 Nissan Rogue
Question:
Hi 2018 Rogue Platinum. I would always be renting a trailer like uHaul etc.. my questions all relate to break lights and automatic breaking. 1. Do rental trailers typically come with wiring to connect to break lights and signals that plug directly into the back of the rogue. 2. Do the trailers have brakes themselves that need to plug in

Great question!
Rental trailers, like from U-Haul, typically come with a surge brake actuator so you'll just need to install a 4-Way like the recommended T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118480 for your 2018 Nissan Rogue Platinum and you'll be good to go! Since it sounds like you'll be towing quite frequently I also recommend picking up the mounting brackets # 18144 and # C57202 so the 4-Way connector will sit near your hitch receiver for easy access.
If you don't already have a hitch installed I recommend picking up the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98846 along with a ball mount like the B&W Tow & Stow 3-Ball Mount # BWTS10048B. The B&W ball mount might seem like a little overkill but the adjustability means you can go pick up a rented trailer with the confidence that the ball mount will work for that towing setup.
I doubt you'll ever need a 7-Way and brake controller for rental trailers but if that ends up becoming a thing you can add those functions with the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 and the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED24FR with the Pigtail # RED69FR.
