Recommended Flat Towing Components For A 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited Sport

I located a 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport 4 by 4 JL. Could you provide: 1. The recommended tow/braking package/items for this vehicle with part numbers and prices. 2. After #1 is installed the steps for putting it in tow mode. 3. Any advice for checking its performance during towing?

1. To flat tow a 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JL you'll need the following components:

Baseplate: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521453-5. This baseplate is designed to fit factory steel or plastic bumpers. If you have an aftermarket bumper I'll need to know exactly what it is to see if there's a confirmed fit.

Tow Bar: etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar # e74ZR. This tow bar comes with safety cables included and has an adjustable head and shank to help keep it level between the motorhome and Wrangler.

Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This kit will have everything you need to properly display your motorhome's traffic signals through the tail lights on your Wrangler.

Braking System: Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System # HM39524. This portable system does require setup each time but should only take a couple of minutes to complete. The included remote will allow you to see when the brake pedal is depressed in the Wrangler and will also let you change the brake settings from the cab of your motorhome instead of having to get out and go to the unit to change settings.

If you want a permanent system then I'll need to know the brake type of your motorhome (hydraulic or air) to find the correct system.

2. To put your transmission in neutral you'll need to refer to the owner's manual. There are different steps depending on the transmission type so you'll want to follow the correct steps for your specific model.

3. Most people that flat tow will also get a TPMS system to help keep an eye on the towed vehicle. Some systems like the TireMinder A1AS TPMS # TM79FR will track temperature as well which is a great indicator if there's an issue and can help you pull over and fix the issue before any damage happens.

This system comes with 10 sensors so you can check each wheel on both the motorhome and the Wrangler. If comes with a monitor but you can also use the app on your smartphone to monitor and control the system as well.
