Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch For A 2017 K-Z Sportsmen Classic 14RBT Travel Trailer

Question:

I have a 2017 KZ sportsman Classic 14. Pull with a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. GVWR of trailer is 2800lbs, Dry hitch 323lbs. Can you recommend weight distribution/sway hitch? with back up capabilities. Travel paved roads only.

To get the best performance out a weight distribution hitch you'll want to first know your trailer's fully loaded tongue weight. Once you're fully loaded you could use a tongue weight scale like the # e99044 to get an accurate number to work with. Most likely you'll fall around the 400lb range.

If you're experiencing a minor amount of sway then I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control # FA92-00-0450. This system has two friction points (where the frame brackets and spring bars touch), which will provide sway control but can be a bit noisy. It doesn't come with a hitch ball so you will need to get one separately; we have a 2" # 40038 and 2-5/16" # C40005 depending on the coupler size of your trailer.

If you're experiencing a lot of sway then I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37040ET. This system has 4-points of sway control; two in the hitch head and two where the frame brackets and spring bars meet. Equalizer is the top system if you're trying to combat sway. This hitch is going to come with a 2" hitch ball so you won't have to buy anything separately.

Both of these systems will allow you to safely back up while they're in use. If your Jeep has an auto-level airbag system then you'll want hook up to the trailer, let the system auto-level, and then hook up your spring bars. If you have any other questions then please let me know.
