Recommended Wiring Adapter for an Older Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller on a 2003 GMC Sierra 1500
Question:
Can I buy a plug in adapter to fit my braking system that will fit my 2003 gmc 1500 pickup There are no model numbers but a patent number 3909075 and 3967863. I was looking at Hobart braking system and would like to get an adapter asap that will plug into the truck without having to cut wires.

You can buy an adapter for your Tekonsha Voyager brake controller for your 2003 GMC Sierra 1500. I recommend using the Tow Ready Wiring Adapter, part # 3015-S. There will be some splicing involved because the older Tekonsha Voyager brake controllers came with blunt cut wires rather than a plug-in style connector.
You can simply splice the wires from your Tekonsha Voyager brake controller to the wires from this wiring harness color for color. The Tow Ready harness includes butt connectors for this. Once you have the harness connected to your brake controller, you can plug it in to the junction box under the drivers side dash. If the brake controller does not work after plugging it into the junction box, there may be a few more connections that have to be made at the under hood fuse box.
I have attached a help article about installing a brake controller on a GM truck for you to check out. It includes photos and step by step instructions. I have also attached an installation video on a 2000 Chevy Silverado for you to check out. This video shows how to plug the adapter in the junction box under the dash and how to make the connections under the hood if needed.
