Recommended Hitch Wiring Harness and Brake Controller for a 2019 Ford Ranger
Question:
Looking at buying a 2019 Ranger XLT to tow an R-Pod 178. The vehicle comes with factory tow package. But apparently does not have receiver hitch or light kit. What is the best hitch and light kit for my needs and approximate cost to fix me up?

The best hitch for your 2019 Ford Ranger is going to be the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver item # C13417. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Ranger with included hardware.
This is a class III hitch with a 2" receiver. It has a 6,000 lbs towing capacity, and a 900 lbs maximum tongue weight. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver item # C13417 is made in America and weighs 34 lbs.
I have linked a picture below along with an installation video so you can see what this hitch looks like when installed.
To control your R-Pod's lights and brakes you will want the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector item # 22124. This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your Ranger's wiring harness, which is located beneath the vehicle, on the driver's side.
You will also need a brake controller. I recommend the Curt Echo item # C51180. The Echo plugs directly into your Ranger's 7-Way connector and allows you to control the settings through an app on your phone. The Echo is a proportional brake controller that slows or stops your trailer when your Ranger decelerates. It uses Bluetooth to communicate with your phone so you will never have to worry about losing signal. If your phone dies it automatically uses the default settings you program in.
If you like the reassurance of a manual override button you will want the Manual Override Button for Curt Echo Brake Controller item # C83HR. You can mount it wherever you want it inside your vehicle.
To round out your towing setup I recommend the Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2" Hitches item # C45534. This towing kit will provide you with a 2" ball and a fixed ball mount with a 3/4" rise and 2" drop. It also includes a hitch pin and clip, hitch receiver lock with keys, hitch cover, and a storage case.
I have linked all of the instructions and several installation videos below. You can find the cost of each part on the product pages. Please feel free to email me back if you have anymore questions.
