You can keep the Kat's Heaters Oil/Transmission Pan Heating Pad # KH26150 plugged in overnight or for several days but it's only necessary to have it plugged up a few hours prior to starting your vehicle. This pad will get between 300 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit which is why it heats up pretty quick.
Just be sure to have it installed only on metal. Since it gets so hot it will melt anything that isn't metal.
