Question:

Looking at a 2008 Chevy HHR, LT trim non-turbo, automatic transmission. What does it take to make this a flat-tow? I have a2007 Journey with a Blue Ox tow bar and Brake Buddy Classic system.

Since you already have a tow bar and a supplemental braking system you won't need much. To flat tow your 2008 Chevy HHR you will need a base plate kit compatible with your Blue Ox tow bar, a wiring kit, and a charge line kit if you are worried your battery will die on the way to your destination. I have listed the parts you will need below along with any available installation videos.

Base Plate Kit: Blue Ox Base Plate Kit item # BX1692. This custom-fit base plate kit is designed for the Non SS models of the 2008 HHR. It has removable tabs that have your HHR looking like it does from the factory when you are not towing.

Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit item # RM-15267. This will splice into your taillight wiring to allow your tow vehicle to control the taillight assemblies of the towed vehicle. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install on the front of your towed vehicle and enough coiled wire to go from there to the RV.

Charge Line: Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles item # RM-156-25. This kit will ensure your battery stays charged during your trip.
