Can 7k 12 x 2 Nev-R-Adjust Trailer Brakes be Used in Place of 6k 12 x 2 Inch Trailer Brakes
Question:
I would like to install 12 x 2, 7000# axle, brakes on my 2004 Terry 5th-wheel that came with 12 x 2, 6000# axle, manually adjustable, brakes. I would like use the self-adjusting feature but do not see this as an option. It does appear to be an option on the 6000# variety. Can I get this feature for the 7000# brake and if so, what is the price? Also, I have read your report on the differences between the 6000# and 7000# varieties and it appears that I would have no problem upgrading to the stronger magnet and more aggressive lining compound. However, I have one final question. Will the 7000# brake assembly fit my current drums?

We do have some 12 x 2 inch Nev-R-Adjust electric trailer brakes for 7k axles. Left hand side is # 23-464, right hand side # 23-465. Current pricing is listed on the product pages for these brakes. If your brake mounting flanges have the 5-bolt pattern then you can use the 7k brakes and they will fit the same drums as the 12 x 2 inch brakes for 6k axles.
Even Nev-R-Adjust brakes have to be adjusted when first installed but after that they will adjust themselves. Otherwise you would have to drive the trailer for a certain amount of time before the brakes adjusted out properly.
