Are Longer Safety Cables Required When Using the Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter # RM-077-4
Question:
Will added length of product require additional length for safety cables?
asked by: John D
Helpful Expert Reply:
The addition of a dual hitch receiver adapter like part # RM-077-4 may require longer safety cables, but that will depend on the length of your current safety cables. This adapter will add 10-1/4 inches between the tow vehicle and the towed vehicle. If your current cables will not stretch an additional 10-1/4 inches, you can use the Roadmaster 10 Inch Safety Cable Extension, # RM-650648-10. You will need two of these extensions.
If you have not purchased safety cables yet, I recommend using a set of long safety cables like the Blue Ox 7 ft Safety Cables, # BX88197. These cables have a coiled design to keep them from dragging on the road when you are traveling.
