Recommended Weight Distribution System and Brake Controller for a 2020 Chevy Equinox
Question:
I have a 2020 Chevy equinox with a 2.0 turbo engine, automatic engine. My travel trailer is 2540lbs. Should I have weight distribution bars and anti sway bar and trailer brake to tow this trailer?

Yes, you should be using a weight distribution system any time the trailer weighs at least half the weight of the tow vehicle. It looks like your 2020 Chevy Equinox has a curb weight of about 3,500 lbs so I definitely recommend using one when towing your 2,540 lbs travel trailer. The Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control item # BLU36FR has a 200 lbs - 600 lbs tongue weight range which would be perfect for your trailer. I have linked a review video below.
Since your trailer weighs over 2,000 lbs you will be required by law to have brakes. To add a brake controller to your Equinox you will want the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller item # RED24FR. The Liberty is a proportional brake controller that activates your trailers brakes when your Equinox decelerates. It also has a unique installation method where the main portion of the brake controller is installed behind your dash and the only visible portion is the control knob. You will also need the Universal Wiring Harness for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers item # RED69FR to complete your installation.
