Your owners manual for your 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo will give you the directions on flat towing your vehicle behind your Class A RV. Your owners manual will also tell you the steps to follow to prevent any drive shaft damage. I was unable to find your owners manual on line.

The Roadmaster Base Plate # 1411-1 that you referenced is the correct base plate to use with your vehicle. These base plates will extend out in front of your vehicle when you remove the tow bar.

The Roadmaster XL Base Plate # 1411-2 is a better choice because it comes with removable draw bars so when you are not towing the attachment points will not be extending out the front of your Jeep.

For a tow bar I recommend the Roadmaster Falcon 2 # RM-520. This tow bar is designed for towing behind a motorhome. I have attached a brief demonstration video. Roadmaster also offers release tool # RM-066 that gives you the leverage needed for releasing the collars.

The other items you will need to flat tow are safety cables such as RoadMaster # RM-643, wiring for your taillights like RoadMaster # RM-155 and a supplemental braking system which is required in most states and Canadian provinces. The RoadMaster proportional controller # RM-9400 will work with your motorhome and Jeep.

I have attached several FAQ articles and brief installation videos and installation instructions for your review.

I have also attached an older question and answer that also deals with your vehicle. That specific vehicle in the question needed a drive shaft disconnect coupling.
