Installation Instructions for Curt 1-1/4-Inch Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11378

Question:

We have a 2014 Nissan Versa Note SV and would like to know if you have installation instructions available for this product you can share with us prior to purchasing? We have a bike rack we want to attach on the back and like the no drill installation part of this hitch. Thank you.

The trailer hitch receiver you referenced, part # C11378 from Curt, is a Class I hitch with a 1-1/4-inch receiver opening. This is a correct fit for your 2014 Nissan Versa Note. The installation instructions for this bolt-on hitch are linked for your reference. Note this hitch comes complete with all required installation hardware and includes a pin and clip to secure your accessory item (such as your bike rack).

Since you already have a bike carrier you intend to use with this hitch you will first want to verify that the carrier is rated as a Class I bike rack. A class I hitch like this unit from Curt can only be used with Class I accessories. If your bike rack happens to be a Class II carrier it will not fit this hitch, even if both the hitch and carrier are the 1-1/4-inch size. Note also that Class I hitches are limited to a 2-bike capacity, even if the carrier can hold 3 bikes. The linked article concerning hitch classes may be helpful as well as the article on how to select a hitch-mount bike rack.

Also please note that even if your bike rack is indeed a compatible Class I product, Curt requires the use of a stabilizing strap for all non-trailer loads (meaning anything without wheels) or your warranty coverage may be void. We offer a simple strap for this purpose, part # 18050 from Curt.

In the event that your bike carrier is not a compatible Class I rack you can use the link provided to view all Class I carriers that will work with this hitch. Both hanging style and platform style units are available; some include locks for the bikes, the carrier itself or both; and some offer a tilt function for better access to the rear of the vehicle.
