Recommended Flat Towing Parts for a 2015 Chevy Equinox
Question:
I have a Roadmaster unit that bolts to a 2015 Equinox, part # 523160-4. What do I need to connect the car to the trailer hitch?

I will start out by confirming that the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit item # RM-523160-4 you have does fit your 2015 Chevy Equinox. To connect the base plate kit to your motorhome you will want to use the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar item # RM-522, the Quick Disconnect Crossbar Assembly for Roadmaster Motorhome Mounted Tow Bars item # 910021-00, and the RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables item # RM-643.
The Falcon Tow Bar item # RM-522 has a 6,000 lbs towing capacity and fits a standard 2" receiver hitch. It has a non-binding design that allows you to release your vehicle at any time even on unlevel ground.
The Quick Disconnect Crossbar Assembly item # 910021-00 is the complete crossbar and quick disconnects needed to attach the tow bar to your item # RM-523160-4 base plate kit.
I have linked a couple of installation videos below.
Some other parts you will need to flat tow your 2015 Equinox are a wiring harness, supplemental braking system, and a fuse bypass switch.
Wiring harness - Roadmaster item # RM-15247 diode kit. This allows a permanent installation and includes the wiring umbilical to connect the Equinox and the RV.
Supplemental Braking System - Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System item # SM99251. This system offers automatic, real-time braking in your towed Equinox. The actuator box installs permanently so that you never have to remove, adjust or reactivate. The system connects to your RV and engages the car's brakes when the RV brake lights illuminate.
Fuse Bypass Switch - The owners manual states that the Equinox is capable of being flat towed, but there is a specific procedure that would need to be followed, so be sure to read that portion of the manual carefully. To flat tow the vehicle, there is a fuse that needs to be pulled but using a item # RM76511 fuse bypass will allow you to disable the fuse with the flick of a switch rather than needing to remove the fuse each time.
The tow bar needs to be within 3" of level. If you measure the height of the inside top of the hitch receiver tube on your RV, and the height difference is more than 3 inches above/below the base plate tab height, you'll need a high/low adapter. I'll link you to an FAQ article that explains all this in more detail along with our selection of adapters.
