Mounting Dimensions of the Optronics 6-1/2 Inch Trailer Light # ST70RB
Question:
what is the dimension from the face of the bumper with the gasket in place, the light installed in the gasket, to the rear of the plug? I would like to know this as I may need to fabricate some kind of a guard around a hole I may have to install to clear the plug and still protect the plug and wires. I will install these lights into 2 X 4 X 5/32 wall rectangular steel tubing as a bumper on the rear of my rig. The dimension for the light show 2 3/8 depth. My question is that with the light mounted into the grommet, what is the distance to the rear of the light installed? It looks like I will have to open up the back side of the tubing in order for the light plug to clear, bummer.

I took a few measurements for you that I think will help. I have attached a diagram and made a short video for you showing the dimensions and the light.
I believe this light will work with your bumper without having to cut out a hole in the back of the bumper. When the light is mounted in the grommet, portion of the light that extends past the wall of the bumper will only be 1-11/32 inches. You should have no problem installing this in your 2 inch x 4 inch bumper.
