Blue Ox Weight Distribution System with Higher Tongue Weight Rating that 1,700 lb Reese

Question:

Our horse trailer has the coupler attached to the TOP of the 4inch frame rails. The tongue weight, depending upon the number of occupants, is from 1,400 to 2,000 lbs. Current WDH is a Reese with 1,700 lb trunnion bars. The head is tipped as far down as allowed. We run out of room to tension the bars beyond the compensation needed for about 1,500 lbs. Is the Blue Ox 2,000 head angle and/or bar stiffness enough to solve this issue?

Helpful Expert Reply:

The Blue Ox weight distribution heads are not interchangeable with Reese systems if that's what you are wanting to do but if you were asking if the Blue Ox system rated for 2,000 lb tongue weight would be stiffer than what you have now the answer would be yes and what you'd need is the part # BXW2000 which is rated for 1,500 to 2,000 lb. This setup is designed for over slung couplers like what you have as well.
