Does the Weight Rating of an RV Bike Rack Go Up When Used on a Passenger Vehicle Instead of an RV

Question:

Hey guys, I was reading about the Yakima LongHaul RV bike rack 4 bikes and how the increased distance between rear axle and hitch causes hitch-mounted RV bike racks to see significant increase in movement and vibration. So when it comes to the loading capacity, is it still the same 37.5 lbs per bike x 4, no matter if Im using it on a motorhome, 5th wheel, travel trailer or passenger vehicle? I mean, the distance between the rear axle and the hitch can vary significantly between the different vehicle types. Does that mean I can load even more if I use it on say a passenger vehicle where the distance is way shorter compared to a class A motor home? Thank you!

The Yakima LongHaul RV Bike Rack # Y02476 is rated for use on passenger vehicles, motorhomes, 5th wheel trailers, travel trailers and flat towed vehicles. It can support 4 bikes weighing up to 37.5 lbs. per bike, regardless of what type of vehicle it is on. The weight capacity does not go up when used on a passenger vehicle due to the axle being closer.

The weight rating of the Yakima LongHaul RV Bike Rack # Y02476 has to do with a number of factors. Like the cradle capacity, strap limits, arm capacity and so on to include the movement of the rack on different vehicles. So while the rack may experience less vibration when used on a different vehicle, the max weight rating remains the same.
