Will Redarc Battery Charger BCDC Get Hot When in Use

Question:

Two questions about the 12A Redarc DC-DC charger RED96FR 1 Does this unit get very hot while running? Im comparing this with a Victron DC-DC charger the Orion 18A and reviews of that charger say it gets really really hot when running and then degrades output, like 150 degrees on the cooling fins. Does this unit run hot? 2 Can you run two of these in parallel? 12A is a little smaller than I want, but Im not ready to go 25A would have to run larger wiring, and not sure the alternator is up to it. If this runs well could I add a second 12A and run it in parallel or would I have to junk the 12A and move to the 25A? Thanks!

I wouldn't say that the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger # RED96FR gets hot when used but it does get noticeably warm. It definitely would not get to 150 degrees.

You would not be able to run two of these in parallel so if you need more amperage only option would be to go with the 25 amp version part # 331-BCDC1225D.
