Is etrailer Trailer Hitch for a 2004 GMC Savana Van Rated for 10K Towing

Question:

I need to put a new hitch on my 2004 Savana Van to be able to pull a car carrier. I was looking at your Matte Black Class IV - 2 - e trailer hitch. This has a 10,000# rating, correct? Also, what will the bolts need to be torqued to want to see whether my torque wrench will cover it or if Ill need to take it somewhere. I have a Class V hitch currently but oddly it says its only rated for 4,000# load, but 10,000# with weight distributing. That seems wrong but U-Haul wont rent me the trailer with those numbers. Thanks.

Yes, the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98861 for your 2004 GMC Savana Van is rated for 10K towing and that's bumped up to 12K if you're using a weight distribution kit. I do also recommend verifying the towing weigh capacity of your van in your owner's manual to ensure it's rated high enough to safely tow the trailer as well.

We try to refrain from posting torque specs directly on our site as those can change from time to time if the hardware is updated, but you can find the current torque specs in the linked instructions.

I'm also attaching an installation video we shot on a 2017 Savana for you to reference.
