Will Rackem Magnum Wheel Lock # RA-25 Still Work If a Thief Deflates the Trailer Tire
Question:
It appears this lock could be defeated if the thief partially deflates the tire, allowing the lock to be rotated up to the base of the trailer, where the lock could be tied. The lock would still be on the wheel, but the wheel can now rotate, although slowly. Do you agree it can be defeated this way? Im looking to get an excellent trailer security system for at least 2 trailers. Keyed alike would be great, but security is the primary concern. Thank you.

My technical contact at Rackem earnestly believes even if a thief deflated the tires on the trailer that the Rackem Magnum Wheel Lock # RA-25 would not be defeated.
This lock clamps onto the actual wheel of the trailer and does so extremely snug. With that being said, even if the tire was deflated, the ability for the lock to move while locked on the wheel does not change meaning it will still not move.
The trailer would be able to move a bit forward however the lock would either hit the trailer or there was enough clearance it will hit the ground and movement would cease.
Rackem will key the units alike. When you go to the order page there is a drop down box for parts that are keyed alike.
Another locking item we offer that has a solid reputation is the Fastway Universal Trailer coupler Lock # FA86-0015-318. This lock fits 1-7/8, 2 and 1-5/16 inch couplers. This fits couplers up to 4-1/2 inches. One customer shared that by installing it backwards it actually would be harder for a thief to drill the lock out.
Diversi-Tech also will key these alike by using the same drop down box on the product order page.
I have attached brief demonstration videos for each product.
