Parts Needed For Towing a Travel Trailer With a 2021 Jeep Gladiator Sport With Max Tow Package

Question:

I need some advice on how configure/ set up my 2021 Jeep gladiator sport with 3.6 v6 and max tow package, 4.10 axle ratio to tow a and a rv trailer…rather than buying a rv trailer 1st and figuring out the truck won’t or shouldn’t tow it. So what would you do if it was your Jeep gladiator? I would like to maximize the rv trailer weight/ length to safely tow. I will use this information to set the parameters for the trailer purchase. I know I need a trailer brake controller, some type of suspension support - which one ? And…? I appreciate your help and advice. Thank you

According to the owners manual for your 2021 Jeep Gladiator Sport with the Max Tow Package and Gas engine you can tow a trailer up to 7,650lbs with a tongue weight up to 765lbs. Personally I wouldn't want to tow anything over 6,000lbs depending on where you plan to tow your trailer as even though your Jeep can pull more it will likely struggle on steep hills and in high elevations where the power is reduced due to oxygen levels.

I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR as you will need a brake controller. The Redarc is great as it only uses a small visible knob rather than a large box that sticks out on your dash. This will connect to your Jeep using the Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness # RED93RR as you have the tow package. You can also use the Universal Mounting Panel # 331-TPSI-001 to give the knob a more factory appearance.

I feel that the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37060ET is going to be the best for this weight rating. This hitch is rated for trailers up to 6,000lbs with a tongue weight of 200-600lbs. Be sure to find out the dry tongue weight of any trailer you look at and then account for any added weight for propane tanks, batteries and gear. The hitch will come with a 2" ball that you will need a 1-7/8" 12pt Thin Walled Socket # ALL643216 to install. Or you can get a 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # EQ91-00-6100 for the larger coupler.
