Question:

Thanks Kevin Thought so. We have a 2009 RAV4 I built in for sleeping and storage. The back door is several problems. Factory roof rack with sliding crossbars.

There are no supports in the portion of the Rightline Gear SUV Tent # RL110907 that goes between the tent and vehicle roof so you will likely have the same experience. Typically the hatch door is what supports that portion to prevent rain from pooling. Since you have a swing door you don't have that same support.

My recommendation is to switch to a rooftop tent like the Yakima SkyRise HD Tent for Roof Rack Crossbars # Y07437. If you can provide me with the year of your RAV4 and whether or not you have no existing rails or factory raised rails that run front to back I can find the correct roof rack to make this possible.

Since you already have a a rails and crossbars the next step would be to determine the right rooftop tent for your needs and to make sure that your tent is going to be properly supported by your roof rack. For example, the Yakima SkyRise HD Tent for Roof Rack Crossbars # Y07437 is going to require that your your rails have supports (pictured below). You'll also need to make sure your crossbar spread stay within 26" - 40-1/2".
