Does Base Plate Fit 2021 Nissan Frontier With Automatic Transmission

Question:

Thank you. I currently have a blue ox tow bar. I am looking at the road Mater adapter kit for blue ox mounted tow bars item RO64FR. In reading the web documentation for the base plate direct connect, it indicates certain safety cables will not work. Where would the safety cables hook to on the direct connect? HAVE A NICE DAY

It does; the "Manual Transmission" spec on the page is due to the fact that only the manual transmission for your 2021 Nissan Frontier can be flat towed, unless you get a drive shaft disconnect like you are. But the transmission does not affect the fit of the base plates, so they will work on your '21 Frontier. Along with the base plates there are a number of other parts you'll need, which I'll go ahead and list out for you:

- Base Plate Kit: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-344-3B

- Tow Bar: Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-522

- Safety Chains: RoadMaster 64" Double Hook, Straight Safety Cables # RM-646

- Wiring Kit: Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-152-98146-7

- Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit # RM-88400

- Supplemental Braking System: Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # DM86VR

The Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plates are nice because they have removable tabs which means your Frontier is going to maintain its aesthetic when you aren't flat towing. The Falcon tow bar's 6,000 lb capacity is more than enough for your Frontier, and I like it due to its long 53-1/2" reach which allows your truck to track behind your motorhome better than bars with shorter arms. It also has cable guides on its sides for a clean and simple way to run the safety cables and wiring from your motorhome to your Frontier.

The wiring kit is designed to prevent any type of electrical feedback to keep your truck's electrical system safe, and the Brake Lite relay is needed to keep the brake signals from overriding the turn signals. As for the braking system, the Stay-IN-Play DUO is easily the best because it gives you braking proportional to that of your motorhome. So when you hit the brakes on your motorhome, your Frontier is going to get the same amount of braking power, resulting in much smoother braking than other systems.

Just to start, the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-344-3B is indeed compatible with the Roadmaster Adapter Kit for Blue Ox Motorhome Mounted Tow Bars # RO64FR. So you can use that with your Blue Ox tow bar, and as for the safety cables, the # RM-344-3B have a tab on the side (right in front of where the pin is) that you'll attach the cables to.
