4.80-12 Bias Trailer Tire for a Utility Trailer

Question:

Hi. I bought a 5x8 utility trailer with carlisle 4.80-12 tires. I built up the sides and floor with decking 2x6 boards and put a piece of plywood on top to carry my 13.5 ft kayak. inside the trailer will be my camping gear. I am concerned about the weight of everything and going 65 mph. It is my understand the tires I have have a load capacity of 1200 pounds. I saw on your website you have a 4.80-12 C rated tire. Would that fit my trailer, fit my rims and would it give me a higher load capacity. Im not concerned about speed. With a trailer and kayak on top I will not go over 65-70 mph. I saw the description for a C tire is 900 pounds per tire. Does that mean 1800 pounds total for the trailer.

The Kenda 4.80-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12" White Wheel item # AM30660 you were looking at are a load range C tire with a 990 lbs capacity per tire. Combined these tires have a capacity of almost 2,000 lbs. You will want to verify your axles and other components have the capacity to handle that much weight. This tire has a maximum speed of 65 mph. This rim has a 5 on 4-1/2 lug pattern and is a 4.80-12 tire just like your Carlisles.

I do not know what size your rim is but if you are looking for just a tire and not a wheel tire combo you will want the Kenda K353 Bias Trailer Tire - 4.80-12 - Load Range C item # AM10062. This is the exact same tire in the combo minus the wheel. I have linked a couple of review videos below.

This tire has a 1-year worry-free guarantee. If within the first 12 months the tire is damaged in any way, it will be replaced at no charge.
