Converting Boat Trailer With 6k Axles From Drum to Disc Brakes Hydraulic Brakes & Titan 7500 Actuato

Question:

Would like to make the conversion from surge drum brakes on my Titan boat trailer...constant problems with brake lock ups with salt water trailering even though I rinse every time with fresh water. So frustrating!! I have Aero 7500 swing away trailer that is in great shape. It is a standard surge system with 6 on 5 1/2 6,000 lb drum system. I want to install the Kodiak stainless steel disc system K2R526S with stainless steel Hubs KH42655S with appropriate bearings and seals. My question is really about the master cylinder output psi...Can I change the size of the output fitting to increase the PSI from the master cylinder? Note just replaced the master cylinder and actuator. With the disc system what do I need to insure reverse lock out? A solenoid valve? Any other parts I will need for this project?

We can get you set up to go from drum to disc brakes, and going with stainless steel brakes is a really smart idea, particularly in salt water. As for the master cylinder, though you just changed it, since you are going to disc brakes you're actually going to have to change it again to the disc brake application in order to get the higher psi needed (which I fully realize is less than ideal since you just changed it, but is necessary). So what you'll need for your Aero 7500 is the following:

- Replacement Master Cylinder for Titan Aero 7500 Brake Actuators - Disc # T4714200042

In regards to the reverse lockout, does your 7500 already have an electric lockout? If so you won't need anything else; otherwise you can use the Replacement Solenoid Valve for Titan Brake Actuators with Reverse Lockouts # T4748800.

If you don't have a 5-way (just a 4-way) then to activate an electric lockout you will need the 4 Pole to 5 Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter # 20036. This will work with the new hub and disc brake kit on your trailer, and the parts you mentioned, along with the appropriate bearings and seal are the following:

- Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 12" Rotor - 6 on 5-1/2 - Stainless Steel - 5,200 lbs to 6,000 lbs # K2R526S

- Kodiak Trailer Hub for 5,200-lb to 6,000-lb Axles - 6 on 5-1/2 - Stainless Steel # KH42655S

- Bearing # 15123 & # 25580

- Grease Seal # GS-2250DL

The disc brake kit comes with brakes for both sides of your trailer, but just a reminder you'll need a quantity of two of the hub, bearings, and seal.
