Troubleshooting An Air Leak On A Roadmaster Even Brake Supplemental Braking Unit

Question:

Earlier you advised me to check the quick exhaust valve with soapy water, which I did, and there is no air leak. I can hear the air coming out of the large brass colored, unmarked device that is mounted to the right of the compressor. The bottom of this device moves in and out around an eighth of an inch. If I hold it in, the air noise stops but the air still leaks out. Because this part is unmarked I believe it may be a proprietary part that is not available. Do you know anything about that part? Can it be repaired or purchased?

The piece you referenced is a magnetic check valve and is one of the four main check valves for the Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Supplemental Braking System # RM-9400. This part can only be repaired by Roadmaster so you'll need to check your serial number and contact Roadmaster.

Their tech, Benny, stated that if the serial number is 22,500 or higher then it will be repairable, but anything lower will not be.
