Can You Use Larger Pilot Hole Diameter on 15 Inch Trailer Wheel w/ 6 on 5-1/2 Bolt Pattern

Question:

I have an 1976 Airstream Land Yacht. My 15 rims have a 3.65 pilot diameter with .625 valve stem hole. My 2020 GMC 2500 trailer TPMS are to small. Can i use a tire rim with a 4.27 or 4.29 pilot diameter. I have seen them with a 0.453 valve stem that would work. The rim I need needs to be 15 -5.5 6 lugs

Yes, you can switch from to a 15 inch wheel with a larger pilot hole diameter than what you currently have, so long as you go with a lug-centric wheel. Those are the most common (by far) and that just means the wheel centers and mounts to your hub's lugs as opposed to the hub bore.

So you can go with any of the following, which all have a 4.27" pilot hole diameter and 0.453" valve stem hole diameter:

- Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel - 15" x 6" Rim - 6 on 5-1/2 - White Powder Coat # AM20532

- Dexstar Steel Mini Mod Trailer Wheel - 15" x 6" Rim - 6 on 5-1/2 - Silver Powder Coat # AM20539

- Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel - 15" x 6" Rim - 6 on 5-1/2 - Silver Powder Coat # AM20535
