Parts Needed For Flat Towing a 2003 Toyota Matrix With a Motorhome 6-Pin Connector

Question:

I have a 2003 Toyota Matrix i want to use as my towed vehicle. My rv has a 6 pin connection. Also I want to have my toad battery charged while towing. I am not sure on which wiring harness to purchase to connect the rv to the toad and have the supplemental braking system work too. I am planning to purchase an RVi3 for the braking system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Currently our selection of flat tow wiring kits only have 7-way or 4-way RV connections. If you already have your baseplate, and tow bar the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 will allow you change out the 7-Way Connector # A7WCB for a 6-Pin Connector # PK11604. Then you will have a 6-pin connector on both sides of the removable harness.

Then you will only need the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 to maintain your battery.

If you are still needing all the components to flat tow your 2003 Toyota Matrix I recommend starting with the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # 1166-1. The Crossbar # 910021-00 provides additional support to the frame on your Matrix that other systems do not use.

You will then be able to attach your Matrix with the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-522. Their All Terrain bar is much easier to get disconnected then other tow bars that bind up. And the Falcon All-Terrain Combo Towing Kit # RM-9243-1 will contain all the wiring, safety cables, locks, a storage bag, and cover. You will need the 6-Pin Connector # PK11604 mentioned above since your motorhome has the 6-pin connector.

I recommend looking at the Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System w/ Wireless Coachlink Monitor # DM86VR as you will not have to worry about taking the unit in and out of your Matrix when you are connecting or disconnecting the vehicle to be flat towed. And since it is installed on your Matrix there is no one stealing or worries about storing it when not in use. This system is designed to be used on motorhomes with hydraulic brakes only.
