Max Speed for Drill Powering Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch

Question:

I have a DL11011 that I use to pull light weight carts 150lb up a ramp 12ft ramp with a 36inch rise. I want to move the carts as fast as possible. Can I use a 6,000 rpm drill to power the winch?

Expert Reply:

The instructions for the # DL11011 state, "to minimize heat build up and possible winch damage, do not exceed 600 rpm." So, although you can use a drill with the Dutton-Lainson Drill Drive Socket Adapter for DLB Series Winches # DL6456 to operate your winch, you will be limited to 600 rpm.
