Why Aren't All Bike Racks Rated for Use at Rear of Travel Trailer

Question:

why do some manufactures say you shouldnt use a bike rack on a trailer? I have a Chevy Colorado and tow a 26 trailer that has a similar 2 hitch. Im looking for a good bike rack that can carry 2 Trek verve3 step through bikes. Your suggestions?

The reason some bike racks can't be used at the rear of a trailer is because the ride quality is much rougher there when compared to a vehicle. This is because the suspension of a trailer is not as advanced as vehicle suspension and because of the much larger distance between the rear axle of the trailer and the rear of the trailer. This exaggerates the movement created by any bumps which puts a lot more stress on the bike rack.

Now with that said we do have bike racks that were reinforced to withstand the rougher ride quality like with the Swagman E-Spec part # S94FR which was designed for E-bikes like your Trek Verve3 that have a step thru frame and the higher weight capacity needed for e-bikes.
