From your recent product searches, it looks like you are asking about the Thule TracRac TracONE # TH27000XTB. If this is is the product you are asking for, you do need to remove the rack before going through the car wash. I went ahead and attached a screenshot that shows this guideline in the instructional manual.
Fortunately, with the clamps, the rack can be removed and installed in just a few minutes. I attached a video that shows this process.
