Yakima Roof Rack and Bike Rack Recommendation for Tracks on a Pop-Up Camper

Question:

Hello, We bought a used popup camper that has an old Yakima roof rack on rails. We are looking to replace to old roof rack with a newer rack along with two bike racks. We were looking at the Thule ProRide XT bike rack but are unsure about which roof rack to buy. What we are looking for are is a roof rack that would mount to the existing rail and also fit the two bike racks. Ive attached a couple of pictures showing what we currently have. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks

From the looks of your photos, you have the Yakima Round Crossbars like the # Y00411 along with the old Control Towers # Y8890027.

If you are looking for a newer model of crossbars that have a more aerodynamic design that fit into the tracks, I recommend the following setup:

- Yakima JetStream Crossbars - 70" # Y00427
- Yakima SkyLine Towers # Y53TR
- 2 sets of the Landing Pad 1 # Y00221
- Same-Key Locks # Y07204

With this setup, the JestStream crossbars create a much quieter ride and increase fuel efficiency due to the design. In order to make sure the JetStream crossbars are long enough, I recommend measuring your tracks to make sure they are no more than 70" apart.

As far as the Thule ProRide XT # TH598004, this is a great choice. Not only does the rack clamp onto the JetStream crossbars, it also is thin enough to mount two bike racks on your crossbars. The ProRide is compatible with wheel diameters up to 29" around and wheelbases up to 47-1/4". Although, it will accept some wheelbases that are between 49-3/16" - 51-3/16" depending on the frame style. It also accepts standard tires up to 3" wide.

I went ahead and attached demonstration videos for you to check out.
