Will a Powered Trailer Wiring Harness on a 2006 Volvo V70 Affect the Bulb Out Sensor

Question:

Since the 46255 wiring harness taps into battery directly for power, does this avoid the CPU reading a bulb out and thus the bulb out light on dash when the harness is plugged in?

Installation of a powered converter like # 46255 should not affect the bulb out feature on your 2--6 Volvo V70. The harness is only getting input signals from the tail light wiring on the vehicle and the power is coming from the vehicle. The bulb out feature should still function normally.

If the trailer has LED lights it is possible that the bulb out sensor could trip. If that happens you could install load resistors, # DI34ZR on the affected circuits on the trailer wiring. The load resistors provide more power draw on the system so it will not think there is a bulb out.

A bulb out issue is not likely to happen on your vehicle but in case it does, adding more draw on a trailer with LED lights is the way to fix it.
