Finding Stoplight Circuit of 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon to Install Brake Controller
Question:
I have a 2018 Subaru Outback. I purchased a Redarc Tow Pro Liberty controller after watching your video of an installation in a 2020 Subaru Outback. However, I do not have a brown wire on my brake switch. I have a green, a yellow, grey, white and a black with a white tracer. Could you tell me which wire I am supposed to use to connect the brake controller. Thanks,

We've had the chance to install brake controllers on 2016 and 2020 Subaru Outback Wagons and we found that for both vehicles the color of the wire for the stoplight circuit was brown. It's not uncommon for some vehicles to randomly get different colored wires from time to time so what you'll need to do is use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to test all of the wires until you find the circuit that has voltage only when the brakes are applied.
