Recommended Fastway e2 WDH for 2007 Toyota Tundra Towing 30 Jayco Travel Trailer
Question:
I have a 2007 Toyota Tundra 4.7 4x4. I am pulling a Jayco 30ft trailer that weights 4800lbs. Fully loaded it is probably closer to 5500lbs. Would an e2 600/6000 Trunnion style sway hitch work for this application? I dont know my exact tongue weight, but I am just going off the 10 rule. Thank you

Expert Reply:
Tongue weight is typically 10-15% of your loaded trailer weight. Based on your information the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control - Trunnion - 8,000 lbs GTW, 800 lbs TW # FA92-00-0800 would be a better choice. This has a tongue weight range of 400-800 lbs which will likely have you covered even at the high end.
I do recommend determining your actual tongue weight before making a decision on weight distribution. You can use a scale like the # e99044. You also need to consider the fact that any cargo behind your rear axle will also be part of your tongue weight.
Assuming you fall into the 400-800 lb range, the Fastway e2 is an excellent choice for weight distribution and sway control. In addition to the WDH you will also need # EQ91-00-6080 for a 2" ball or # EQ91-00-6100 for a 2-5/16" ball. You will also need a 1-7/8" thin walled socket like the # ALL643216 for installation.
I have attached some installation and review videos for your reference, along with a helpful article on determining trailer tongue weight that you can check out.
