The Base Plate Kit that you will need for your 2008 Chevy Cobalt is item # 523137. This kit fits all Chevy Coblats except the S.S. & Sport models.
Along with the base plate kit you may also need the following items.
Tow Bar # RM-020 or RM520
Tow Bar Wiring # RM-154, # RM-155, or # C-ATL20A
Safety Chains # RM-645 or # RM-643
You can also get a kit (see link) to set up your tow bar which has all the accessories for attaching the vehicle with the towbar and base plate kit you select.
