Cushioned Weight Distribution 2.5 inch Shank Solution for Ram 2500

Question:

I had asked the question earlier but have a problem... Ive got a new Ram 2500 2022 and the height of the old 1500 was perfect for my E2 hitch. Now, Im going to have a . Will one of these work? And Ive only got about 800 lbs of tongue weight plus the WDH. Id actually like torsion if I could as I do a few miles on dirt roads and already have the road armor for the Travel Trailer suspension. asked by: Karl M Expert Reply: For a cushioned weight distribution shank that fits the 2-1/2 inch hitch size like what you have youd want the part # 325-GH-1102 which can provide up to 6-1/2 inches of . This has the torsion cushioning you are wanting as well. PROBLEM: My tongue weight appears to be well below the minimum on the #325-GH-1102 of 1200 lbs 2.5 inch shank. I have a dry tongue weight of like 550 and fully loaded Im not 1000 lbs, more like 800-850. Im at like 7K lbs total trailer weight. So, although noted or recommended to NOT use, could I use a 2.5 inch to 2 inch sleeve for my truck and use the lightest version of this GY54FR. I realize that may not be optimum, but operating below the minimum tongue weight for the 1102inch is not indicated either.

Yes you can use the lower rated Gen-Y Torsion weight distribution shank part # GY54FR which matches your tongue weight range as well as drop requirement. You would need a sleeve adapter like you mentioned as well like with the # 325-GH-007 and you'd be set.
