Parts Needed For Pulling a Tear Drop Trailer With 7-Way Wiring With a 2022 Mini Countryman
Question:
Hello. I am interested in towing a small tear camper behind my 2022 Mini Countryman S. I have already purchased and installed a Curt # C11522 custom fit hitch. What I do not know is what electrical wiring I will need for this car. The tear I am looking at requires a 7-way connection to provide power to charge the battery and the trailer brakes. Thanks!

Since you already have the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11522 you will only need your ball mount and wiring/brake controller for the 7-way. Curt recommends using the Curt Class II Drawbar # C45521 with 1-7/8" Ball # A-80 or 2" Ball # A-82.
For the wiring I recommend the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT be installed with the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. The ModuLite # 119250KIT will tie into the vehicle lights to control the trailer lights and the Installation Kit # ETBC7 will provide wiring for the charge line and brake controller.
The Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller w/ Universal Wiring Harness # RED52VR will allow you to control the trailer brakes from a small control knob that you mount to the dash. The controller is also proportional so it will automatically adjust for light and heavy braking situations without user input. It does this via a 3-axis accelerometer.
