Should Trailer be Loaded When Installing Roadmaster Comfort Ride Shock Absorbers For Tandem Axles

Question:

I have a 2022 Heritage Glen 370BL with 6k axles on it. I am wondering if having cargo in the trailer at the time of installation causes you to perhaps choose the wrong or non-ideal placement of the shock absorber? When setting it to a 30° angle, it seems to me that the amount of cargo in the trailer will change the deflection of the factory springs, and hence change the location you determine for the frame bracket if you for example did this with a dry trailer versus doing it with one that was loaded at 50 of cargo capacity?

Good question, and yes the deflection will change on a loaded trailer compared to a dry trailer. We have asked Roadmaster about this very subject before, and they have said the trailer should be loaded to about 50% capacity when installing their shock absorbers:

- Roadmaster Comfort Ride Shock Absorbers for Tandem Axle Trailers - 5,200-lb to 7,000-lb Axle # RM-2460
